Laughter, joy and a few happy tears filled the air at Maseno University on the 12th day of November, 2025 as the Class of 2025 Nursing students celebrated their much anticipated Pinning Ceremony, a time-honored tradition marking their transition from students to professional caregivers.
With graduation set for November 14th, 2025, the pinning ceremony symbolized more than just the end of academic training; it was a powerful reminder of the values that will guide them throughout their careers.
The event was a colourful mix of pride and emotion as students and lecturers gathered to celebrate this defining milestone as students expecting to graduate received their pins, a moment that represented years of sacrifice, sleepless nights and unwavering determination<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In her heartfelt address, Ms. Linda Mogambi, Dean of the School of Nursing, congratulated the soon-to-be graduates for their resilience and hard work. \u201cAlways remember the values you learned here  competence, compassion, and care,\u201d she urged. \u201cThese are not just words; they are the foundation of your calling as nurses.\u201d
The ceremony\u2019s guest speaker, Mr. Bravin Etole, a lecturer at Amref International University and a practicing Oncology Nurse Specialist, shared practical wisdom with the graduating class as they prepare to enter the job market. He acknowledged the anxiety that often comes with seeking new opportunities but encouraged them to stay focused and positive.
\u201cFinding your first job can be challenging, but every experience is a step toward growth,\u201d he said. \u201cKeep learning, keep connecting, and never forget why you chose this noble profession.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Adding to the event\u2019s success were the sponsors, NorthCoast Medical Training Centre and TYE Pathways,  both instrumental in helping Kenyan nurses pursue careers abroad. NorthCoast supports graduates through the transition process, equipping them with the necessary skills and certifications to meet international standards.
TYE Pathways, which facilitates nursing placements in Austria, also provides comprehensive German language training to prepare nurses for life and work in a German-speaking environment. Their involvement gave many students renewed hope about global opportunities awaiting them beyond the university gates.
As the pins were placed and candles lit, the hall glowed with a sense of pride and purpose. It was a moment that captured what nursing is truly about  a commitment to care for others, no matter where in the world that calling leads.
For the Maseno University Class of 2025, the Pinning Ceremony was more than a celebration; it was a promise  to serve, to heal and to make a difference.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
